Where Love, Place & Purpose Meet

Some places change the way we travel. Others change the way we live.

For us, Transylvania became both.

Our story began in a castle hidden in the heart of rural Transylvania, far from the main tourist routes, in a landscape of quiet hills, ancient forests, and villages where life still follows a slower rhythm. It was there that we met — brought together not only by our shared passion for travel, but also by a deep connection to nature, heritage, and meaningful human experiences.

For over 15 years, I, Andreea Roxana Ivan, worked in tourism as a travel manager, local guide, and experience curator, creating journeys for travelers seeking authenticity and connection beyond conventional tourism.

Aladár Zsolt Ambarus brought his own path and perspective, with years of experience in logistics, tourism, hospitality, and guiding travelers through the landscapes and cultural richness of Transylvania he knows so intimately.

What started as a shared passion slowly became a shared vision.

A year after we met, I moved to Aladár’s childhood village, Hălmeag, a small hidden Transylvanian village surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and fields shaped by generations of rural life. There, we bought the home of a local painter, a place filled with memory, character, and quiet beauty.

That house became more than a home.

It became the beginning of a new chapter, one where our love story intertwined with our love for Transylvania itself.

Living in Hălmeag changed the way we understood tourism. We saw both the extraordinary beauty of these rural communities and the fragility of their future. Villages full of heritage, craftsmanship, stories, and traditions slowly disappearing under the pressure of migration, isolation, and mass tourism models that rarely give back to the places they pass through.

And so, the idea behind Transylvania Harmony Travel was born.

Not simply as a travel company, but as a regenerative tourism concept rooted in harmony between people, place, culture, and nature.

We wanted to create journeys that help travelers experience the authentic spirit of Transylvania while also supporting the communities, traditions, and landscapes that make this region so unique.

Every experience we design is deeply personal to us because it reflects the life we chose to build here.

The forests we walk through are the ones we call home. The local artists and craftsmen, local producers and their families, people we collaborate with are our neighbors and friends. The traditions shared with travelers are part of the living cultural fabric that surrounds our everyday life.

Through Transylvania Harmony Travel, we hope not only to create meaningful journeys, but also to contribute, even in small ways, to the revival of the village we now call home.

We believe the future of travel lies in authenticity, slowness, wellbeing, local connection, and regeneration.

And perhaps most importantly, we believe that the most meaningful journeys are the ones that transform not only the traveler, but also the places and people connected through the experience.

For us, this is the quiet art of Transylvanian living.
